Getting a Bachelor of Science (BS) in computer engineering allows you to qualify for positions across the country, many times with a higher starting salary than is available for applicants who have just an associate’s degree. The starting salary for computer engineers with bachelor’s degrees was $61,738 as of 2009, and you can get your bachelor’s degree in just four years (or less, depending on how many credits you take every semester). If you have an associate’s degree in the field already, or in a closely related field, you can get your BS in about two years in order to qualify for better positions in computer engineering.
